💕 UsTwo — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how UsTwo ("we", "us", "the app") handles your information. UsTwo is a private, self-hosted couples app designed to keep your data under your control.

1. Information We Collect

UsTwo collects only the information you voluntarily provide:

• Account Information: Email address and password (passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text).
• Content You Create: Photos, journal entries, memories, love notes, bucket list items, and other content you choose to add.
• Location Data: Only when you explicitly choose to add a location to a photo or map pin. Location is never collected in the background.
• Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we store a device token to deliver notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to provide the app's features to you and your partner:

• Displaying your shared content (memories, photos, journal entries, etc.)
• Sending push notifications when your partner interacts with the app
• Providing AI-powered suggestions (if enabled by you)
• Account authentication and password recovery

3. Data Storage & Self-Hosting

UsTwo is designed as a self-hosted application. All your data — including photos, messages, and account information — is stored on the server you or the app administrator controls. We do not operate central servers that collect or store your data.

4. Third-Party Services

UsTwo may interact with the following third-party services only when you use specific features:

• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: For place search functionality. Your search queries are sent to Nominatim's public API. See OSM's privacy policy.
• OpenRouter (AI features): If you use AI-powered suggestions, your prompts are sent to OpenRouter's API. See OpenRouter's privacy policy.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: For push notifications on Android devices. See Firebase's privacy policy.

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics trackers, or data brokers.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with anyone. Your content is only visible to you and your linked partner within the app.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
• Authentication uses JSON Web Tokens (JWT)
• HTTPS encryption for data in transit
• Data is stored locally on your self-hosted server

7. Data Deletion

Since UsTwo is self-hosted, you have full control over your data at all times. You can delete any content within the app, or delete your entire database from the server. To request account deletion, contact the app administrator.

8. Children's Privacy

UsTwo is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
